"Le Temps Beni des Colonies"

McCarroll’s new body of work, “Le temps beni des colonies” - the good old time of the colonies - produced in Hanoi during her 2005 study tour - explores a collective past, drawing on the history and memory of Vietnam, to pay homage to the Vietnam of today..
The body of work consists of large mixed media pieces combining digital print technology and oil glazing techniques. McCarroll has printed on canvas images from postcards dating from the French colonial Indochine, and then with humour and subtlety has added socio-political comments on the “good old times” of that era.
